Well We didn't really have anything too exciting happen this week.
We were walking down the road and we saw an older woman sitting in her lawn pulling up what we assumed to be weeds. We talked to her for a few minutes and she agreed to have us come over to help her pull up weeds. She insisted that we change into clothes that we're okay with getting dirty so we went back to our apartment to change. We got back to her place and started to help her pull up weeds. The only problem was that there wasn't any weeds... It looked like she was just pulling up random areas of grass. So we had her point out what exactly it was that she wanted to get pulled. She showed us but we still weren't sure. Basically I figured out that if there was any grass that was even slightly out of place, it was to be removed. My companion and I went ahead and cleared the yard pretty fast. Part way through her neighbor came outside with a lawn chair and set it up with in his garage then he went back inside. My companion and I looked at each with a sort of "Oh great, here we go" look. The guy who set up the chair was to he same guy who feels a need to come outside and yell at us anytime we are on his street. And being in a small area, we're on his street a lot.
he came back out with two water bottles and yelled, "Hey! You want some water? It's HOLY water!"
I'm not too keen on accepting water from from people hat clearly don't like like us and have a history of yelling insults, so we declined. He set them down and then grabbed a beer and sat in his chair. He just sat there and watched us. Every few minutes he would yell out some kind of insult and then sit quietly for a while. Thankfully we finished up in the front yard and asked the woman if there was anything else we could help with. She said that there were, "lots and lots of dead needles and leaves under the hedge that needed to be raked" So we went into her backyard to start raking. his is the first time we actually saw her yard and house because of the hedges that surrounded everything. So we were shocked to see how pristine her yard was. And the worst part was that there was absolutely nothing underneath her hedges. It looked as though she had cleaned it already with a fine toothed comb. It was really weird.
This week was really frustrating. It was super hot outside and for some reason that makes people be bigger jerks to us. We were walking home one night and I swear, every other car had to roll down the windows and yell some kind of insult.
We had our first interviews with our new mission president. I really like him. We seemed to hit it off really well.
