This week went by really fast.
we didn't get to spend as much time as I would have like in my area.
but we did what we could.
We went to go contact someone on the unbaptized member list and as we pulled up to the house a big German shepherd came running over and started barking at us. It didn't really phase me since that happens all the time. So I got out of the Jeep and started for the house got about halfway when the owner came out to get the dog to shut up. I started talking to her and found out that she was who we were looking. I looked back to see where my companions were since I didn't hear them. I saw that the dog was still barking at them and they were just sitting in the Jeep. Realizing how awkward it was to be talking to her with my companions just sitting in the Jeep,(obviously scared of the dog) I said, "umm... well, we're actually kind of busy right now... we just wanted to swing by to see if we could come over some time and have a lesson with your family"
She agreed and we worked out when we would come back. Its kind of a lame story, but it was still really awkward.
I saw on the ward list that there were two names listed for the same address but that I hadn't marked on the list whether or not they were active members of the church or not so figured I would stop by to get to know them. When we got there I realized that the house wasn't big enough for two families to be living in so I just picked one of the last names and decided to see if it was them.
A woman that I didn't recognize came to the door so I figured that I had never seen her at church so I asked her if she was the family I was looking for. She said she wasn't then told me her last name, which was the other name on the ward list. it was really awkward and I didn't want to bring up that she was on the ward list, usually that give someone the impression that they were on some list the church gave you of people to see, which is never true. So I just asked if she had any connection to the LDS church. She said she didn't but mentioned that her husband played basketball with our church on Thursdays. He was also on the ward list but she said neither of them were members.
Of course that's not a new thing for people to say they aren't members when we know for a fact that they are. I just take it as a big "I'm not interested" and then leave them alone and write Not Interested next to their name on the ward list. haha I don't know where I was going with that story, I guess it was just something that happened so I may as well tell it.
Another funny thing that happened was when we went to go find someone else on the ward list. The address we had was a house with a big wrap around drive way. We pulled up right in front of the house, as soon as we stopped a very angry looking woman came to the window and started motioning for us to go away and said "NO" over and over again. I just looked at her then pointed as if to say, "You want us to leave?' she nodded her head that pointed for us to go. So I laughed and waved goodbye. It was funny because she started laughing and them waved goodbye back.
All of that happened so fast that neither of my companions saw it. And they weren't looking at me either so they didn't see me point or wave. From their perspective. I pulled up, put the Jeep in park, sat there for a few seconds, then laugh, popped it in drive and left. They were really confused and I had to explain it to them.
That's it for the week.
