Well, I'm pretty sure that this might possibly be my last week in Orofino. It might have something to do with the fact that I very strongly hinted to President Mullen that I should be transferred. Maybe that actually might make him want to make me stay :P haha
This week we had two really good lessons, both or which were this Friday.
The first one was with a guy who promised his parents that he would take the missionary discussions. So we went over to his parents house and had dinner with him and his parents at one point he got up and left to go walk the dog. We finished eating and then moved on to desert and he still hadn't come back yet. So they sent their grandchildren out to go find him. we waited for a half an hour before he came back. We were all convinced that he had just bailed on us.
He sat down and we got to know him a little bit and then started to teach him. It was interesting to how at first you could tell that he didn't want to be there but as the lesson went on and we had him reading some scriptures you could really see the Spirit working on him. By the end of the lesson he was smiling alot and nodding his head at almost everything we said (he wasn't really saying much) at the end we invited him to say the closing prayer. He did and told told us that he would like us to come back. It was good.
We had another dinner appointment right after that (yup, two dinners) with the woman that chased us down in the street. We had a good visit while we waited for dinner to be cooked. Her husband, who always is there but is never really a part of the conversation, was playing video games like he normally does. We were shocked when he brought up that is was actually him that texted us and invited us over for dinner and a study and not his wife. He said that she had no idea we were coming over until about an hour before.
When dinner was done she suggested inviting her neighbor over. So she went and got him. As we were getting to know him their other neighbor, that we had met before, showed up and was crying because of something that had happened to one of her friends. So she joined us too. The tv was on so that the kids would be quite as we read. We started to read in 2 Nephi 2, which is a chapter on agency and atonement as well as Adam and Eve. They were all getting super into it and were all stopping every once in a while to explain the verses to each other and to give their input. There was a natural pause in the conversation and then our attention was turned to the TV because Veggie Tales started talking about how God gave us our ability to choose and how our decisions affect others. It fit into what we were talking about perfectly the rest of our visit was super good and you could tell they all got a lot from it.
Well that's all for the week,
