We had some cool things happen this week.
We had a dinner appointment with some members and after the dinner we went to the living room so we could share a message. The husband cut us off mid sentence and said, "Elders do you have any appointments after this?" We told him we didn't and he got a huge smile on his face and then told us that he had someone that he felt impressed to have us see.
He referred us to one of his neighbors that moved in a little after thanksgiving. He had found out that the new neighbor was a member of the church who was inactive and had never transferred his records. So we told him we would stop by.
We went straight over to the man's home where he invited us in. We talked with him for a little while and found out that he was kind of active in California but then moved up here and went completely inactive for one reason or another. So we shared a couple scriptures and then talked about the importance of church. And to our great surprise we ran into him in the clerk's office on Sunday as he was getting his records transferred
Another cool thing happened when we were out contacting less-active members. We knocked on one mans door. and talked to him for a minute or so. But he seemed a little pre-occupied and didn't really want to talk. But he invited us in anyway and let us share a scripture with him. I noticed how his house was really cold and that he was wearing a coat but I didn't really think anything of it.
He really liked what we shared and it some good conversation going about how he hasn't done anything with the church for a couple years and things he missed and stuff like that. after we said a prayer and were about to leave. But then my companion asked, "Do you have anyway to heat your house?"
Apparently he was behind on bills and so all of his utilities were shut off and he had just burned through the last of his firewood.
We coordinated with the bishop and a couple other members of the ward and then that night he was able to have the great surprise of us knocking on his door, telling him that we had a whole pickup truck load of firewood for him. He was really excited and was very grateful.
Well that's almost everything super exiting that happened this week, we had a couple funny encounters and such like that, but I gotta save something to be able to talk about when I come home right?
